Camp Rock: the Final Jam Nintendo DS Game Review

About the Game: Camp Rock: The Final Jam allows players to create their own customized avatar and join Mitchie, Shane and other Camp Rockers as they explore music camp and participate in a variety of activities as they prepare to compete against their rival Camp Star. Fans can jam to songs using the stylus to play guitar, bass, and drums and even get down with some hot dance moves inspired by the film.

Our Take: What sets Camp Rock: The Final Jam apart from other DS games?  Hands down, its the music!   The gameplay is fun and everything, but the fact that you can listen to the characters jam out is the best!  I played this one with my 8 year old son, and he had a blast.  He just recently watched the latest movie and this game was a great accompanyment.  If you or your kids are a fan of this series, the game won't disappoint!

The features of the game are:

Play through the story events of Camp Rock: The Final Jam.

Rock out to songs from Camp Rock and Camp Rock: The Final Jam using the stylus to play guitar, bass and drums.

Solve puzzles and play mini-games to help Camp Rockers prepare for the Final Jam.

Get down with some cool dance moves inspired by the film.

Customize your avatar with clothing, accessories and make-up to wear around camp.

Guilty Party Wii Game Review

About this Game: Disney Guilty Party is a fun and hilarious mystery party game, exclusively for Wii™. Friends and family play as the savvy sleuths of the world-famous Dickens Detective Agency to investigate a series of crimes and identify the guilty party. Explore a variety of mysterious locations - each with a unique twist. The Wii Remote™ is used to collect clues and interrogate suspects via fun pick-up-and-play minigames. With enough evidence gathered, players can identify the guilty party and solve the case - but the Dickens Detective Agency has many enemies, and there's always another suspect lurking in the shadows...

Our Take: There are a ton of Wii games that come out every year, but none quite as fun as Guilty Party, the newest release from Disney.  You work as a sleuth with the Dickens Detective Agency in order to solve various mysteries.  One of the coolest things is that every level can have a different ending, depending on how you play it.  This game seemingly has infinate twists and possibilities.

The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are fantastic.  Our entire family played this one together and it was a blast.  It reminds me a lot of the old 'Clue' game, but with a lot more interesting turns.  We won't reveal the identity of ol' Mr. Valentine, but rest assured it'll take you by surprise!

They key features of this release are:

Family Friendly Fun: Play alone or with up to four people in head-to-head gameplay, or team up in cooperative modes to solve the case

Become a Detective: Play as an elite detective called in to investigate a bizarre series of mysteries. Search the scenes for clues, question suspects and utilize sleuthing skills to crack the case

Fun Mini Games: The Wii Remote becomes a lock pick, a flashlight and more. Quick wits and reflexes are needed in dozens of mini-games to uncover clues and gather information from suspects

Replayability: Each level can be replayed with a different ending every time

The Empire Strikes Back at Star Wars Celebration V

--Interactive LEGO mural building event supports ‘The Empire Gives Back’ and
 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital–

ORLANDO (August 13th, 2010) – To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, LEGO Systems, Inc. and Lucasfilm Ltd. are summoning the force of LEGO® and STAR WARS fans and families to participate in a three-day collaborative build of an eight-foot tall, 15-foot wide LEGO mystery mural to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The mural will be constructed by attendees of Star Wars Celebration V and a LEGO Master Builder at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center from August 13-15.

Fans who help the LEGO Master Builder to construct the mural will receive one of 10,000 limited edition white Boba Fett LEGO minifigures. Additionally, for every LEGO plate a fan builds and adds to the mural, LEGO Systems and Lucasfilm’s “The Empire Gives Back” program will donate 330 LEGO System and LEGO DUPLO® bricks to        St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to encourage imagination and creative play and support the patients of St.  Jude. In total, more than 1.5 million LEGO bricks will be donated..

“The STAR WARS franchise has creatively inspired so many people since its debut, and has motivated LEGO enthusiasts to build models, create their own stories and, in some cases, produce their own films,” said Michael McNally, brand relations director, LEGO Systems, Inc. “We’re particularly proud to partner with Lucasfilm’s ‘The Empire Gives Back’ charitable giving program to both commemorate an important milestone for The Empire Strikes Back, but also to help carry forward its creative spirit with yet another generation of children through St. Jude.”

STAR WARS enthusiasts will also be able to see new LEGO products on display, have their picture taken with life-sized LEGO STAR WARS models and check out fan created LEGO models.  A second LEGO Master Builder will be doing a live build of a 6-foot tall Boba Fett model.

The LEGO Store will have products available for purchase and will feature an exclusive Celebration V STAR WARS CubeDude set, designed by fan and Pixar animator, Angus MacLane, who will be on-site to sign boxes.  To purchase the set, a raffle ticket must be drawn.  Tickets will be pulled at the LEGO booth each day at 11 a.m.
