Spring is coming and its time to re-vitalize your home.  We chose to focus today on a very underrated way to personalize and customize the rooms of your home….wall graphics!

We examine two different households.  One couple that is about to have a baby and needs solutions for their nursery.  This couple resides in a two bedroom rental home.   They have limited ability to customize their surroundings beyond a new paint job.   They have a desire to express some personality and warmth in their new baby’s room, so they turn to wall stickers!

Wall stickers are re-stickable graphics that..well go on the wall, right?   In this case we’ve narrowed down this great tree from Room Mates Peel and Stick! 

We got the wall graphic online and went to work!  They spent the day painting their new baby girl’s room pink and getting the crib ready to go.  When the graphic was placed on the wall it just seemed a little too simple, so to liven up the decore we got creative.  The tree was placed in each corner, to give more personality to the entire wall.  The results can be seen below…

We highly recommend this method of decoration.   Your walls can grow with your little one, you can simply order new stickers to replace the old ones!  Keep your packaging and you can store them for the next time you wish to use them, or re-sell them!

Our Take: We found this to be a very unqiue game, especially for a Disney licensed product.   You might assume that you're going to play as Alice..perhaps battling a Jabberwocky (especially if you've had the pleasure of seeing the film), but surprise!  You're not.  You spend the game alternating between the Mad Hatter, The Doormouse, White Rabbit and the March Hare to solve various puzzles in each level.

It an absolute blast.  The gameplay is fun and it definately appeals to more than kids.  The puzzles are very mult-faceted and can require the coordination of multiple characters to solve.  We highly recommend this one!

We were walking with our kids down the Lego isle one day, on the hunt for the Toy Story Legos, when we came across something unexpected....Ben 10: Alien Force Bionicle Style Lego Sets!   Needless to say, the kids went nuts!  Our 7 and 5 year olds are Ben 10 crazy.  You see, dad is friends with one of the lead character designers on the show, so since day one we've followed it pretty closely.  They have the bandai toys, press kits and shirts and all kinds of cool swag.  Now, in the midst of my son's obsession with Bionicles we get Ben 10 Alien Force Lego sets!

 

The packaging on these is dynamic.  There is something about that lime green color that always appeals to my eyes.  The sets are very simple, once removed from the box.  The age range is 5-12 and a 5 year old can easily handle the sets.

Here we're featuring the 8409 Spidermonkey Homeworld: Aranhascimmia. Species: Arachnichimp and the 8519 Big Chill Homeworld: Kylmyys. Species: Necrofriggian.  There are a total of 6 Ben 10 Lego sets, including Swampfire, Jet Ray, Chroma Stone and Humungousaur!  These are done in the bionicle style and are very easy to assemble.  They look fantastic and stay together nicely for play.  They also look great on display for older Lego or Ben 10 collectors.

Is it an unchartered mission in secret space? No, its BUZZ LIGHTYEAR! Lego has newly obtained the Toy Story license. Kids and Adults alike just fainted! You can only imagine what Lego is going to do with it, right? Imagine no more, because these toys are starting to hit shelves at Super Target and Toys ‘R Us locations, not to mention the online Lego store.

 

Today we’re going to feature the Construct-a-Buzz. The most important part of any Lego set, in this reviewer’s opinion, is the mini-figure. Its what lasts in your mind with a Lego set and what you want to ensure that you have for your collection. This Construct-a-Buzz comes with..wait for it….and Alien mini-figure! Its adorable. Plain and simple.

How difficult is the set? Not very. The recommended age range is 7-14. My 7 year old son got ahold of it and had it built in minutes, so its perfectly on-target for the age recommendations.

How does it look? You can see from the pictures…its amazing. Lego has really outdone themselves, like usual. He reminds me of the huge Lego statues you sometimes see as a promotion for their various licenses. He’s a great homage to Lego and Toy Story sitting on your shelf. Its great for a collector, because he stays together well and doesn’t lose pieces easily. Its great for kids because, well they can build and play with their own Lego Buzz Lightyear! Whats not to love, right?

Our Take: The dioramma features the epic scene eluded to in the Fellowship of the Ring, but shown fully in the Two Towers. Gandalf and the Fellowship are crossing through the dark dwarf-controlled mountain inards around the bridge of Khazad Dum, when they encounter an ancient evil…the Balrog! Gandalf battles with the creature, but his grey wizard magic isn’t enough, the two fall into the deep depths of the earth engaged in an epic battle that eventually evolves Gandalf into a white wizard!

The Balrog has been rarely featured in Lord of the Rings merchandise, until now. The detail work on this full-scale dioramma is absolutely breathtaking. The Balrog is featured in all its glory with heat enfused flesh and an encompasing wingspan. Gandalf is a tiny addition, to show the scale difference between the two characters

 

When we saw pics of this one online it wasn’t that impressive. Pictures honestly can’t do it enough justice. This is one of the most amazing pieces I’ve ever seen and its definately a tops for Sideshow Collectibles. They really outdid themselves on this one.

Its large..I won’t lie to you. About 18″ in height alone, not to mention the width. I recommend having a large, enclosed display case for it or a VERY sturdy bookcase for it to go on the top of, but you must own this piece before its gone. The Hobbit is coming out in a year or two, and Funko is already producing some LOTR product, so Lord of the Rings fever is going to strike again!  I cannot recommend this one enough!

Stat of the Half: Raps @ Pacers Jan.11/10

SotH: 13; that is the number of touches Hedo Turkoglu received in the first 21 possessions of the game.

It was made obvious right away, part of tonight's game plan was to get Hedo the ball more often. This was certainly a reactionary move of the coaching staff to the comments our prized free agent made after yesterday's game against the Celtics. After a quick - and usually questionable - miss by the Pacers, the Raptors found Hedo and let him run the offense. And the result? Good things happened. The Raptors were able to jump on them in the first quarter; an extreme opposite to what happened against Boston. Though he only finished the half with two assists (one of them including a ridiculous hip pass which resulted in a DeRozan alley oop), there were several other instances where he either made the pass that led to the assist, or resulted in a teammate not being able to hit a clean look.

Another interesting stat that I have to bring up is that in the 10 minutes Hedo was on the court in the first quarter, he went 0 for 0 from the field. With the ball in his hands that often, he's got to be a tad selfish at times. When he's making his shots, it makes the Raps harder to beat. If he wants the ball in his hands, then he has to make the magic happen from all accounts of the offensive attack.
